“If only we could bottle up some of their energy…” What is it about little children and their AMAZING energy? The hours of laughter and delight in slides and bubbles, wading pools and sprinklers, sandboxes and crayons. We watch them and at times note the contrast between their effervescence and our own energy signature. “Oh to be a kid again….”
What is it in those children that we miss in ourselves in those moments? Is it possible that time and “adulting” has dampened the childlike joy and wonder that makes evenings catching fireflies magical? Is it possible for us to experience more of those moments again—even as adults?
I propose that it is. I believe that the freedom, joy and ability to live in the moment—trusting that the next moment and next day will take care of itself—can be cultivated. Or perhaps excavated and rediscovered. Over the next few weeks I’ll share with you my musings and some of my deep dives into emotional wellness.
For today, I leave you with a question or two to ponder. Envision a beautiful childhood moment. What emotions did you feel? How would you describe the spirit or energy in that sliver of time? How does it feel to imagine daily life containing those moments for you—NOW?
If you feel so inspired, please share your thoughts in the comments. More on this topic to come…
